The Rotary Club of Taunton has recently donated £1,000 to support the Busoga Trust, a charity that supports and maintains the provision of clean water to remote rural communities in Uganda. The Trust not only helps communities build wells but importantly has a training programme for local maintenance engineers that ensures the wells are maintained and repaired. Engineers are locally recruited offering a sustainable solution to the longevity of the clean water supply.  They travel from village to village to carry out their work and spread the all-important message about the need to extend and maintain clean water supplies.

A cheque from the Taunton Rotary Club for £1,000 was presented by President Roger Priest to Rotarian Helen Whitehead of the Wells Rotary Club who is currently spearheading a campaign to support the Busoga Trust.  Money raised by the Well sRotary Club is doubled by the International Rotary Foundation and so far, Helen has raised £3,000 for the Busoga Trust.
