Working with Communities wordwide

The Rotary Club of Aberdeen St Machar has worked with communities abroad by both club projects (eg Nepal) and Global Rotary Projects (eg End Polio Now)

For several years, we have been working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Patan West in Kathmandu.  We have been supporting five schools in and around the mountain village of Bandipur.  Help has included providing water and toilet facilities, supplying educational supplies and teacher training support.

In 2018, a social enterprise was officially opened in Bandipur providing a sustainable support for the schools from a coffee shop and heritage guest house.  This also provides training and work for the local community.

End Polio Now

We have supported the Global Rotary Project to End Polio Now for many years.  Several years ago, this has been publicised by the Crocus emblem. When children have been given the vaccine, their little finger is dyed with purple ink which looks like a crocus.   In 2018, 10K crocus corms in the grounds of Riverbank Primary school and in the Powis area.
