One Day RYLA Event

Sat 7th July 2018 at 10.00 - 16.00

Relaunching the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards in the District.

This year we are relaunching our RYLA with a 1 day leadership course to be held in Birmingham on Saturday 7th July 2018.

We are inviting young people between 18 and 25 to take part, sponsored by Rotary clubs, community groups or employers.

After a somewhat challenging year last year mostly in finding young people within the district to take part it was decided to revamp our RYLA programme.
It is no longer an international programme which means we do not need to find host families for foreign students ,which also proved difficult, and it is felt that the exchange and camps and tours programmes satisfy the needs of young people in this area.

We are inviting young people between 18 and 25 to take part sponsored by Rotary clubs, community groups or employers. The cost is expected to be £50 per person.
Based on 20 people attending.

Aims/Goals:

  • To build communication and problem solving skills
  • To discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader through role play in a boardroom scenario
  • Learn from community leaders and mentors from the business world who will facilitate the role play
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships and contacts

Timings are from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm with breakfast and lunch being provided.

After the course all those involved will move on for an informal meal and a debrief of the day.

The day will be led by Vinay Parmar a  professional facilitator, with help from Rotarians on the day.

It is planned to move on to a weekend activity in 2019.

More information will be available soon.
