The Annual Interview Experience Programme -2023/24 for Schools

Pupils from years four to six have the opportunity to see what interviews will be like when they leave school.

At the last event (pre Covid), 80 students from Fortrose and Dingwall Academies put themselves forward to experience the Interviews. The interviews are conducted as near to real life as possible and each student faces a panel of two or three Rotarians who are well versed in the interviewing process. Interviews last for betwenn 30 and 40 minutes with time allowed for an assessment of the student's performance and for feedback to each student. Students are asked to talk about their school and leisure activities and their aspiration for the future. The word 'Talk' is the main feature of the programme because regardless of what each pupil knows, it is practice at talking to three strangers across the interview table that is the main aim of the day.

The feedback from the students is always positive with most agreeing that the experience has given them an insight into what to expect at a real interview and the confidence to meet it head on.
