Accelerate Reading at Galmpton Primary School
Donation to Galmpton Primary School
Preston Rotary Club has just donated £500 to Galmpton Primary School to help them increase their library resources and give students even greater reading material in their library.
President of Preston Rotary Club, Yvonne Childs, said “The club is very keen to support the education of our local children and this is a fantastic school to be involved with. The people of Preston are very generous to our charity events so it’s really satisfying to be able to encourage the pupils of Galmpton Primary School with their literacy skills so that they may grow to be equally supportive members of our community in years to come”
The Head teacher, wasted no time in purchasing reading books with the donation, said. “We are very grateful to Preston Rotary Club for their support in boosting our library and giving our students a broader range of exciting books to help develop their love of reading. These books have been chosen to complement the new Accelerated Reader scheme which the school has recently introduced. The scheme is designed help students rapidly improve their reading and comprehension skills through a package of linked activities including online quizzes about the book they have just read. The scheme has a strong track record of accelerating reading progress”
