Plans for 2019 - 2020


The Youth Services Committee will continue to involve as many young people and Club members as possible in Youth activities through the following events:

1. Young Chef

The Club Round will be held at WHS on Thursday 21st Nov.2019

TBC with school.

2. Young Musician Area Round

The Club/Area round organised by Heather Guy (RCCB) will be held in

The WHS Dutch Barn concert hall. January 2020 date TBC.

3. Youth Speaks

The Club Round to involve the English Department of Whitchurch

High School and Bro Ederyn High School.

Intermediate Competition: Date Planned (Tuesday 14th Jan. 2020)

Senior Competition : Date Planned (Tuesday 21st Jan. 2020)

4. Young Interviewer - District

Single District final: Date Confirmed as Friday 20th March 2020.

The District Competition will be organised by Helen Davies (RCCB) and

Hosted by Howells school.

RCCB will seek one competitor from each of our schools to take part.

5. Fitzalan feeder schools – Essay Competition

Organised in co-operation with Rotary Clubs of Llanishen and Cardiff Bay. The Future structure for 2020 is to be discussed. Ongoing September to April. Prizes/Presentations March/April 2020.RCCB to sponsor Grangetown Primary.

6. RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2020

Club to financially support 3 candidates, from either Howells,

WHS or Cathedral schools. We will apply for any grants

available to subsidise fees.

7. Interact

Continue to support and promote Howells, Whitchurch, and

Cathedral Interact Clubs by involving them in our Club activities,

and involving ourselves in theirs.

Interactors are welcome at any breakfast meeting but three

meetings will be specifically planned as “Interact” breakfasts to

which Interactors/staff will be invited.

Planned dates are as follows:

Wednesday 18th September 2019 – RYLA report back

Wednesday 4th December 2019 – Christmas/Rotakids

Wednesday 6th May 2020 – New Presidents/Paul Spencer

Awards. Awarded annually the Paul Spencer Memorial Award

Is given to the Individual who has contributed most that year to

the success of the Interact Club’s at Howells/ Whitchurch /

Cathedral. Winners are chosen by school Interact Committee’s.



8.Whitchurch Primary school Annual Prizes

RCCB to award two prizes annually at the July Year 6 leaving assembly to

two Individual pupils one prize for “Effort” and one for “Achievement”.

Recipients chosen by staff.

9. Whitchurch Primary Rotakids

Continue to support Rotakids group established at WPS

Three projects to be undertaken: Charity/Community/International.

Rotakids Committee to be invited to Christmas (December 4th) Interact

Breakfast.

11.Fund Raising: Objective

Youth Services will organise (with Club help) two main fundraising events with the aim of raising a sum at least equal to what is spent annually on Youth Activities. Proposed for 2019/20:

Curry & Social Mon. 21 Oct.2019

CC&VY Orchestra Concert April 2020 TBC. RCCB/Orchestra to organise a single combined concert in the WHS Dutch Barn Concert hall. Donation to orchestra at least £1000.

N.B : At this stage some dates are “planned dates” subject to

confirmation with schools & possible clashes with other planned RCCB events. All competitions have been scheduled to meet “normal” Area/District Final dates (2019/20 District Schedule not yet available), and school holiday dates.
