Rotarians visit Normandy

Wellington Rotarians visit the Normandy beaches

A group of Wellington Rotarians recently visited the Normandy beaches. It was a sobering trip during which we visited Pegasus Bridge and saw the Horsa gliders used to help land the troops. We visited some German bunkers, astonishing examples of military engineering, and when visiting the beaches we could see the remains of the Mulberry harbours. There were many other fascinating places we visited whilst hearing of the desperate times the troops had securing a bridgehead in Normandy.
