Support for Abuse Charities

Two important donations for Abuse Charities

President Dan set supporting vulnerability as a key objective for this year.

In keeping with that message the club supported donations of £250 each for two important charities who support victims of abuse.

SafeLives is a National Charity that supports victims of domestic  abuse right here in our local communities. They describe themselves as;

We are SafeLives, the UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse, for everyone and for good.

We work with organisations across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse. We want what you would want for your best friend. We listen to survivors, putting their voices at the heart of our thinking. We look at the whole picture for each individual and family to get the right help at the right time to make families everywhere safe and well. And we challenge perpetrators to change, asking ‘why doesn’t he stop?’ rather than ‘why doesn’t she leave?’ This principle applies whatever the sex of the victim or perpetrator and whatever the nature of their relationship.

Last year alone, nearly 11,000 professionals working on the frontline received our training. Over 65,000 adults at risk of serious harm or murder and more than 85,000 children received support through dedicated multi-agency support designed by us and delivered with partners. In the last three years, over 1,000 perpetrators have been challenged and supported to change by interventions we created with partners, and that’s just the start.

Together we can end domestic abuse. Forever. For everyone.

SV2 supports victims of sexual abuse in Derbyshire. They describe themselves as;

SV2 is a charity commissioned by NHS England, Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire County Council to provide the County’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) service. This service includes forensic medical examinations, crisis worker support, Advice Line and support from Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs). We work in partnership with the police but independently in order to advocate for anyone who accesses our services.

SV2 provides a range of therapy services for adults and children including art therapy for children aged 0-13. Our therapy services are funded by various agencies and other charities such as Children in Need, the National Lottery Community Fund, NHS England and Clinical Commissioning Groups.

SV2s work is overseen by a Board of Trustees which has responsibility for the ensuring that the charity delivers its aims of: reducing the impact of rape and sexual abuse on victims (all genders) and their families; encouraging reporting of rape and sexual abuse; supporting victims through the legal process and; reducing the incidence of rape and sexual abuse by raising awareness.

SV2 works with victims/survivors of sexual violence and abuse to InformSupportProtect andEmpower them.
