Speaker 24th January 2020 - Ruth Spurr, Dog Aid
Ruth Spurr, from Dog A.I.D. (Assistance in Disability - established in 1992)
Rotary Club of Chesham had a wonderful young, very passionate, speaker last week, Ruth Spurr, from Dog A.I.D. (Assistance in Disability - established in 1992). Ruth came with her dog Willow. Firstly Willow was not given out – she is Ruth’s own pet first and foremost. The owner and dog then receives training with help and support from Dog A.I.D. This Charity helps disabled owners train their own pet dogs to become assistance dogs, to a level where Willow qualified in September 2018 to a fully trained level and is a certified accredited assistance dog.
Training takes up to two years with both dog and owner receiving specialist education from a network of trainers and attains fully qualified Assistance Dog status. By supporting Dog A.I.D. you are helping disabled owners make a life-changing difference to any people with physical disabilities and their families.
