This popular annual event was held at Hermitage Academy on February 25 2020.

ELEVEN pupils took part in Helensburgh Rotary Club’s annual Young Baker competition at Hermitage Academy on Tuesday afternoon.

After a two-hour contest, Lily Dennett emerged as the winner and will receive a gold medal.

Second place and the silver medal went to Leila Yuen, with Ailsa Law taking bronze in third place.

The competition was organised by Linda Harvey for the Rotary Club, and for the Academy by principal guidance teacher Isobel Cullen and principal home economics teacher Patricia McKinnon.

Judge Diane Edward and Rotary president Douglas Dow both praised all the entrants for the consistently high standard of baking, and they said that it had been a very close contest in the medal positions.

The other entrants were Yannick Cowey, Alysha Hume, Leonah Houston, Holly Mason, Robert Mill, Roan Mitchell, Kayla Morley-Smith and John Smith.
