Prior to 1964 no Rotary Club existed in East Kilbride. Due to the rapid growth of town during the 1960s, a meeting was organised by Mr Bob Park from Strathaven Rotary Club for those interested (gentlemen only) in forming a Rotary Club in East Kilbride. After hearing from Bob the aims of Rotary and what was expected of a Rotarian, East Kilbride Rotary Club was born.
The first President of East Kilbride for the year 1965/66 was Norman Tait and the club has since gone from strength to stength. Our 50 year anniversary was celebrated in 2015, with the first lady member joining the ranks in 2017. New members are always welcome and there are many ways to get involved:
You could donate or volunteer to help the club in one of its or Rotary's initiatives
You could volunteer to speak at the club about a cause or interest
If you are a school pupil, you could take part in a Rotary Youth competition
If you represent a charity, you could ask the club to support you
Getting involved with Rotary could be the most important thing you ever do. Your skills and experience are invaluable in our drive to help communities at home and around the world, and whether you become a member, or volunteer your time and abilities, you will be helping to make people's lives better.
