Ashtead Rotary Club meets to organise the club's charitable activities and to have fun! The club aims to provide a varied programme of information and entertainment for these weekly meetings. Fortnightly presentations include updates from charities the club already supports; introductions from charities new to the club who seek funding; and information from local community organisations to give an overview of what is happening in and around Ashtead.
On other evenings, club members get together for dinner, drinks and
This can include annual celebratory events such as Burn's
Night, Oktoberfest and Christmas; popular activities, for
example, skittles, quizzes and darts; and trips out to local
attractions such as Denbies Vineyard. From time to time, members also
give talks to the club either about their life and professional
experiences or on a subject close to their hearts.
Ashtead is an extremely active Rotary Club both socially and in its charitable activities, so if you are interested in giving service in a fun and friendly environment, please contact the club for more details. Visitors are welcome to most meetings and the club happily hosts guests interested in joining or just finding out more about Rotary.
year Ashtead Rotary Club organises Village Day which takes place on the
second Saturday in June. Due to Covid 19, the 2020 event
has been cancelled. The next event will take place on Saturday 12th June 2021.
The main focus of Village Day is to provide a full day of entertainment for all those within the local Ashtead community. In addition, it serves to raise funds for the many small charities that attend and with which Ashtead Rotary Club can support both local and international charitable needs.
The main entertainment takes place in the field arena with shows and participation events held throughout the day. New headline acts are arranged every year including a celebrity opening to the event! In addition to the arena, other entertainment is provided including live music acts, funfair rides, a dog show, Punch and Judy and a demonstration of stationary engines.
The event includes a wide range of over 100 stalls, from youth organisations and hobby clubs to shops, businesses and charities. The stalls not only put on great entertainment during the day with displays, prize competitions and gift ideas but can also provide inspiration for ways to get involved with the local community year round either through a new hobby or a way to lend a hand.
When the club would normally be
busy organising Village Day, the focus has switched to the many charities and
businesses locally, many of who are struggling at the moment, who would
normally raise much needed funds and their profile at our event. In addition to the support being given by the club, Ashtead Rotary would like to encourage local people to support these charities and
