People of Action - Polio

The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary, turning funds raised by donations from Rotarians into grants supporting projects both around the world and close to home.

The Rotary Foundation taps into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money and expertise into our priorities including promoting peace and eradicating diseases such as polio.

Each club donates to Foundation each year but can also access this funding back, by applying for support for their projects from their local Foundation District Committee, so the decisions about Grants are made by people who live in and know the local area. We are part of District 1220 which also covers Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and South Yorkshire.

Most recently, The Rotary Club of Derby have accessed this funding to support a clean water project for a school in abo Abo in Ghana and our now annual pensioners' Christmas Tea.
