The Youth Services Committee will attempt to maintain as many youth activities as possible in view of the likely cancellation of District and Area competitions, the pressure on schools, and the need to safeguard the health of our members during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will also try to respond to any requests from local schools for alternative activities when practicable.
The following youth activities will be suspended for 20/21:
Young Chef
Youth Speaks
Rotakids
Proposed Activities
(Provisional only, subject to government regulations, school requirements and sensible health precautions.)
Young Musician
If circumstances allow and there is sufficient support, Heather Guy is willing to organise a RCCB run competition from home involving any other interested local clubs. A date in the first quarter of 2021 would be determined by the updated situation regarding coronavirus restrictions.
Young Interviewer
Helen Davies is willing to organise a RCCB run competition for candidates from local schools to be held in the Spring Term, 2021. Schools would be asked to put forward one competitor each, with a target of six competitors and a limited audience.
RYLA –Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2021
Club to financially support 3 candidates, one each from Howell’s, WHS and Cathedral School, with encouragement to schools to put forward candidates who have experienced financial or personal difficulties and/or would benefit from development of their confidence and self-esteem. Essay Competition
Club to run an essay competition with at least one local primary school during the Spring Term. This competition could be expanded, if schools so wish, as direct personal contacts are not required.

Only one fundraising event is planned for 20/21 which is the proposed joint RCCB/CC&VY Orchestra concert to be held in the WHS Dutch Barn concert hall in April 2021 (Date TBC). Planned donation to the orchestra of at least £1000; residue to RCCB.
The aim is to raise a sum for RCCB at least equal to the budgeted spend on Youth Activities.
In the unknown circumstances created by the Covid-19 virus, activities may need to be restricted due to the inability to fundraise.
