RYLA Opportunity (2022)

The Rotary Club of Felixstowe will again be looking to sponsor two young people to go on a challenging week-long personal development course.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

RYLA is a unique annual development programme which is designed to improve the leadership and communication skills of young people aged 18 to 26 years old to enable them to achieve their potential in work and the world in which they live.  The RYLA scheme in East Anglia has successfully changed many lives, giving young people the skills and tools to improve their employment prospects and develop careers.

RYLA is a 7 day, 15 hours per day fully residential intensive program held at Grafham Water Centre, Cambridge, during the first week of September and is designed to change 50 individuals into a formidable team of people, utilising professional tutors, lecturers and instructors.  You can find more information and a good video clip at www.ryla.co.uk.

The Rotary Club of Felixstowe looks to sponsor the full course cost for one or two local candidates each year to go on this very valuable course.  The candidates should live locally and should be in employment locally, in training or further education.  If you would like to find out more, or you know of a suitable candidate, be they an employee or indeed a friend or relative who would benefit from this opportunity, please contact Mark Davis at markr.davis@btinternet.com.

Regrettably due to uncertainty about COVID and 18 to 35 year olds being vaccinated and protected in time, the scheme will not proceed for 2021, so obviously we are now looking ahead with hope to September 2022.

What previous organisations have said about the benefits of RYLA:

  • Effective team working
  • Ability to contribute in a group
  • Improved performance
  • Better communication
  • Clearer thinking
  • Greater motivation
  • Achievement of results
