Derby Club supports TOC-H Holiday Camp with an evening of team games

Members of the Rotary Club of Derby and Derby Rotary Satellite, their friends and family members have supported this great holiday camp for 98 years.

On Tuesday 26th July, members of the Rotary Club of Derby, Derby Rotary Satellite and their families supported an evening of fun team games at the TOC-H holiday camp near Ashbourne.

Each year we provide a variety of competitions such as welly wanging, grass skis, penalty shoot out, lawn darts and many more on the first day that the children arrive at the camp. Two tents, one girls, one boys, complete each team and they compete in each event to win prizes at the end of the evening. The children have lots of fun, supported by volunteers who also attended the camp when they were younger.

At the end of the evening, everyone gets together to organise the scores and decide which teams win. The Club provides prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams and all children attending the camp recieve a bag of sweets. The club also made a donation of £300 towards the camp.

Children attending the TOC-H Camp are referred by schools, usually because they have had a difficult year. The camp provides a safe place for them to enjoy their childhood and build great memories. Activities include canoeing, climbing walls, trips out to places like Alton Towers and much more. Many of the volunteers themselves have grown up attending the camp and the atmosphere is electric, they are so good at what they do.

The Rotary Club of Derby has supported the TOC-H holiday camp for the past 98 years, only missing certain years in times of crisis such as World War 2 and the recent pandemic, when the camp was unable to run.
