Tenterden Rotary Club Supports Fire Aid

FIRE AID and International Development has been working in Lebanon with partners, Operation Florian and Women in the Fire Service for over 5 years. During this time, we have delivered hundreds of sets of personal protective equipment (fire fighters were seen wearing these whilst responding to the port explosion in August 2020) and multiple sets of road traffic cutting equipment. Alongside these equipment donations FIRE AID has trained over 75 fire fighters and delivered 40 hours of online training during COVID-19. FIRE AID has also worked closely with Save the Children and the UN to produce fire safety training which is being used to improve fire safety in refugee camps across the region.  

This latest project will deliver a further 350 sets of personal protective equipment and other essential fire-fighting equipment (meaning our donations would have provided every single fire fighter in Beirut with modern personal protective equipment). The project is supported by multiple Rotary clubs across the UK and worldwide including clubs from Spain, Canada and Lebanon, with a long-term aim of applying for a Global Grant to continue the project into 2022/2023. 

FIRE AID’s Claire Hoyland said “We are so grateful for Tenterden Rotary Club’s generous donation which supports our latest project to donate essential personal protective equipment to fire fighters in Lebanon. The situation for fire fighters in Beirut at the moment is dire, this donation is desperately needed by emergency workers on the ground in Lebanon and will be very much appreciated.”
