Club Meeting — Board minutes

Tue, Dec 7th 2021 at 12:45 pm - 2:45 pm

The secretary read the minutes of the November board meeting.

President-elect Reay Mackay welcomed ten other members and guest Michael Dawson. The Secretary read the Board Minutes.

Reay, who announced he had now qualified as a Fire Warden, gave an update on the Malawi project.

He said: "When I started the Malawi project, I said that I would try to raise £5,000. Unfortunately this was curtailed by Covid and we only sent about  £2,300.

"As members will see from the video I circulated, the classroom has been completed and they now need £3,000 for books. I think that if we could raise that, it would be a nice point at which to finish.

"Rotary District 1230 has funds which might be provided. Our assistant district governor, Andrew McLeman, has asked for the forms required for the application. He has said that if they get involved then it will be on a fifty-fifty basis. In other word, if we provide £1,500 then they will match it.

"As you know, I am very keen that Rotary clubs and St Michael's Church  in Helensburgh Church should combine forces. If the Garelochside club is prepared to get involved, then we need to raise £500 each. One event each should about do it, and I would ask members to think about what event we might hold."

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Graham Smith.
