Friends of Altrincham Rotary Club

Friends of Altrincham Rotary Club

The object of the "Friends" programme is to connect community minded people to our club.

It provides an opportunity to be involved in the club's community projects, for people who share Rotary's ideals and objectives but who cannot, for reasons of their own (e.g. due to time and travel constraints or other commitments), join our club as members.

Friends of Alrincham Rotary Club are invited to participate in the activities of the club as follows:

- attend regular meetings run by the club

- attend social and official functions run by the club

- assist in fundraising and volunteer activities of the club.

Guidelines:

1. Friends of Altrincham Rotary Club are not required to pay either a membership or a joining fee. Because they do not pay a fee they are not members of Rotary, or our club, and are therefore not entitled to the rights of membership as provided for in the Constitution and Bylaws. Rather, a Friend has a formal association with the club which provides an avenue to participate in club activities.

2. Following a review of their application the Council of Altrincham Rotary Club may accept them as a Friend. An accepted Friend will be formally welcomed at a meeting of the club.

3. The initial period of the Friend's association with the club will be for the current Rotary year, renewable as appropriate by the Council of Altrincham Rotary Club.

4. A mentor, a member of the club, would be the link between that Friend and the club on an ongoing basis. The mentor would ensure that the Friend receives details of all club activities and the Friend is encouraged to be involved in those activities. Meals, and costs of social activites etc. will be paid for at the same rate as members.

5. A Friend would be entitled to recieve the club's private bulletin.

6. A Friend would not have any right to vote on any decisions made by the club, or serve on the club's Council.

7. If, at any time, a Friend expresses a wish to become a member of Rotary then the usual procedures for all prospective memebrs shall apply.

Any or all of the above guidelines may be varied from time to time with the agreement of the club's Council.
