We have all been deeply troubled by the ongoing and escalating war in Ukraine. The humanitarian impact is severe, with over two million people fleeing the country. Those, and those that remain are in dire need of emergency aid.
The United Nations estimates that number could grow to as many as 5 million people being displaced. Innocent people have lost their lives and families are being torn apart by war and violence.
As an organisation that has peace as a cornerstone of its global mission, we stand with the people of Ukraine.
What We Are Doing
The Rotary Club of Market Bosworth is actively raising funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Appeal. DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.
Over the last 10 weeks we have raised over £13,000 from our local community. The support from the public has been quite amazing and we are very grateful for your generosity. We will be continuing our collections through the coming weeks to provide further relief to the refugees and to those still suffering in Ukraine .
The situation in Ukraine is very volatile and, as needs arise, we may also provide funds via Rotary GB&I who can also get aid to where it is most urgently needed.
Ways To Donate
In addition to our street collections, personal donations may also be made as follows:
