Egg-citing time as Llanelli Rotary stages hunt

Llanelli Rotary Club organised an Easter egg hunt and gave away more than 100 chocolate eggs. “It was a great day – and lots of fun,” said Rotary Club president Ieuan Griffiths.

There was plenty of excitement in Llanelli’s Parc Howard over the Easter holidays.

Llanelli Rotary Club organised an Easter egg hunt and gave away more than 100 chocolate eggs.

“It was a great day – and lots of fun,” said Rotary Club president Ieuan Griffiths.

“Following the lockdowns of the coronavirus pandemic, it was great to be able to stage something for the children of Llanelli to enjoy.

“Thanks to our Rotary helpers, we scattered more than 100 marked pebbles around Parc Howard.

“The park is the jewel in Llanelli’s crown and it was wonderful to see so many children – and their parents, relatives and guardians – out enjoying the lovely weather.

“Each pebble could be exchanged for a chocolate Easter egg – and we also had some very welcome donations of cash for our appeal to help the Ukraine crisis fund.”

Rotary Club secretary Alison Evans said: “It was a great family day out – and we used our new branded blue gazebo for the very first time!

“The gazebo has been named in honour of the late Gloria Hopkins, the blind bowler who was such a great ambassador for Llanelli and who did a wonderful job promoting the Rotary name and brand in the community at large.”

Mrs Evans added: “We had some great feedback from both children and adults for our Easter Egg Hunt. See you next year!”

Mum Samantha Jayne Francis commented on the Rotary Club’s Facebook page: “This was a great event. Thank you so much for organising! Our daughter had a wonderful time.”
