In Bexhill Rotary Club’s 99th year since formation in 1923, Perry Puddefoot became the new President at a handover ceremony on Friday 1st July.
Perry’s main challenge in his year of office is to walk at least 1,000 miles to raise money for local charities under the title of ‘THE LONG ROAD’ and he is looking for sponsorship to help him on his way. He is very keen to raise money for Bexhill & Hastings Mencap, Food Bank and local youth groups. You can sponsor Perry by the mile or by a single donation. Donations can be made on-line to the account below.
BEXHILL ROTARY CLUB TRUST FUND Sort Code: 51-70-12 Account No: 65650395. Ref: PPWALK.
Perry was born in North London and had planned a life in the armed forces but instead has spent most of his working life in the police force, initially serving eight and a half years in the Metropolitan Police before transferring to the Sussex Force in 1996. As he was interested in vehicles he spent many years as a traffic officer and eventually got involved with driver training as an instructor before retiring, after which he re-joined as police staff. He served 15 years as a Scout Leader in the Beaver section, Assistant District Commissioner and County training team. Before joining Bexhill Rotary Club Perry joined Round Table in 1997 later becoming Chairman, and after that became a 41 Club member also serving as Chairman.
Perry is married to Alison and has four children – the eldest being two girls and the younger two are both boys. He also has two grandchildren.
His interests outside Rotary include playing tennis, walking football and is a keen walker (he will need to be !).
