Phil Hammond watch him at the Edinburgh Fringe. Phil Hammond is a doctor, journalist, broadcaster, campaigner, comedian and raconteur. We are delighted he has agreed to be our guest and after dinner speaker at this charity event.
After qualifying as a GP, Philip went on to write for Private Eye as their medical correspondent and has appeared on a variety of TV shows including, ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor’, ‘Have I got News for You’, ‘Countdown’ and 'The One Show’.
Dr Hammond is a campaigner on health issues and the NHS, promoting patient empowerment, honesty, and transparency. He combines this with his gift for comedy which enables him to convey powerful messages.
Philip has also won awards for broadcasting, popular health journalism, comedy, and teaching. He is Vice President of the Patients’ Association and a patron of Meningitis UK, the Doctors’ Support Network, the Herpes Viruses Association, Patients First and Kissing It Better.
He has written books including, ‘Medicine Balls, Trust Me, I’m (Still) a Doctor ‘, and ‘Sex, Sleep or Scrabble?’.
The Guardian review commented, that he was, ‘One of the most entertainingly subversive people on the planet’ ,whilst Time Out reviews stated he was, ‘Sceptical, irreverent, very funny and like a mighty gush of fresh air in a field that’s bedevilled with cover ups and cloaked in a vow of silence’.

The dinner is on Saturday 15th October at Oake Manor, 7.00pm. The dinner comprises a 3-course meal with coffee after. Tickets cost £40 per person and tables of 8/10 may be reserved.
