Damon Boughen - Philanthropy Manager, Opportunity International was Introduced via zoom link by International Chair, Ray Edwardson.
Guests included Neil Slater, the son of the late Rotarian Syd Slater and Ron Tench who had been a lifelong friend of Syd. Syd’s family donated a substantial sum of money to the club after his death and after research by the International Committee it was agreed that the club would donate the money to Opportunity International in memory of Syd Slater.
Opportunity International is working to end global poverty by providing a hand up, not a handout. They believe that enabling individuals to create dignified and sustainable work is the foundation for transforming their lives, their children’s futures and their communities.
The clients they work with have ambitious dreams for their futures, but lack the opportunities needed to make those dreams a reality.Today, Opportunity International serves more than 10 million hardworking families in over 20 countries around the world.
