President David Lewis and a team of Rotarians, wives, partners and friends, teamed up with Maidenbrook Country Park to commemorate the Club's Centenary celebrations. The planting project also contributed to Queen Elizabeth II's, Jubilee 'Green Canopy' aspirations.
The Queen's Green Canopy is a living legacy, honouring her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth, with the planting of one million trees by local communities throughout the United Kingdom. The Club was pleased to plant the trees at the newly established Maidenbrook Country Park which is being spearheaded by Alan Hall. The park is set in 30 acres of land purchased by Taunton Deane Borough Council from the Crown Estate as part of their award to become a 'Garden Town'. This project, which is now in its 3rd year, will promote bio-diversity and wildlife, whilst also providing an amenity for the public, promoting wellbeing and nurturing personal connections with the natural environment.
