DG Kath spoke at our first meeting in 2023

At the first club meeting of 2023 we welcomed our member, District Governor Kath Bromilow MBE, to speak to us. Kath spoke about District and Club links but started by telling us about some personal details. She was born in Leyland, one of a family of seven sisters and one brother. Both of their parents died when they were still quite young. This was, Kath said, when they learned to look out and care for each other. Kath has been caring ever since through active roles in her career path. First in the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, then for thirty years in the Police forces of Greater Manchester and Lancashire, and latterly with North West Ambulance Service.
When Kath was a serving police officer she worked with Police Cadets bringing her into close contact with projects run by Carnforth Rotary, which led to her decision to join their club.
Kath moved onto describe how as DG she was working with the Continuity Team to progress and maintain the District Action Plan. A rolling three year plan, which she said was vital for the continuity and stability of Rotary in our district. The District Plan aligned with Rotary International's four year Action Plan. The key factors were to stabilise membership and to continue to progress to End Polio.
Kath emphasised how important each individual member is to Rotary. Club members in the district are doing vital community work which they should input to Rotary Club Central to record  the time and money spent on their community projects.
President Heather thanked Kath for her talk and her work as DG
