PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP AWARD

PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP AWARDED TO MICHELLE ANDERSON

Rotary Elgin are always keen to recognise members’ efforts especially those who go above and beyond. Club members were therefore delighted when Michelle Anderson was recently awarded the very special and prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship award.

Michelle joined Rotary Elgin some 9 years ago, and the commitment she has given to any task thrown at her is admirable. Currently President Elect and ready to take on the presidential reins in July, Michelle has played an active role across a wide range of teams within the Club, and also within the Rotary District, always living up to the Rotary motto of “Service above Self”.

DurIng the Covid pandemic Michelle took the initiative and led the Club to its transition to zoom meetings, and this proved invaluable in keeping members in touch, keeping everyone connected, and very much keeping the Club alive.  At the same time, she volunteered her organisational ability to help co-ordinate the volunteer rotas at the local Fiona Elcock Vaccination Centre – Rotary members provided some 2,250 volunteer hours

On presenting the award to Michelle, President Martin Birse praised her  great work, not only within Rotary but in the wider community.   She is the Club’s main contact when they support the Gordon Castle Highland Games, and she also gives of her time and expertise as a Director of the recently formed Town Hall Committee, where she has responsibility for organising the volunteers at the Hall.  All of this on top of her full time employment as a Business Banking Relationship Manager!  Without doubt an honour richly deserved.

Rotary Elgin is part of a world-wide organisation, and very much community based and community focused. It also offers members the opportunity to “work in the community, for the community, with the community” and to develop personal skills through its varied internal teams. The Club meets every Thursday evening at 6.30pm and if you’d like to find out more please visit the website  www.elgin.rotary1010.org or email secretary@elgin.rotary1010.org
