Cycling for Prostate Cancer UK
The Rotary Club of Bexhill recently organized a static cycle ride to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. This was held at Tesco’s Ravenside, Bexhill where the staff made us welcome and even participated in some of the cycling.
We had 3 cycles and the aim was to cycle as far as London to Paris (276 miles) over the day. In fact, with the help of members of 1066 Cycling Club, we far exceeded this target and, thanks to the generosity of Tesco’s staff and customers we raised over £800 towards prostate cancer treatment and research. There was a second challenge for members of the public and this was to cycle as far as possible in 5 minutes and several brave souls tried it. Champions were Olley from Tesco’s who cycled 1.87 miles in 5 minutes beaten only by Dejay who completed a fantastic 2.4miles.
The longest distance cycled was 40Km by Luca Vendito (who didn’t even have the grace to look exhausted like so many of us who completed far shorter distances).
