Associated Seafoods Limited - Henry Angus

Thursday 13 July

This week's speaker was Henry Angus, who is the Export Sales Manager at Associated Seafoods Ltd. (ASL) based in Buckie.   After a spell in the British Army, Henry entered the food industry in 1999 culminating in joining the newly formed ASL in 2011.  ASL comprised of an amalgamation of Lossie Seafoods and Moray Seafoods with factories in Low Street and March Road, Buckie.  In 2022 RR Spink, Arbroath and in 2023 Loch Fyne Oysters were acquired by ASL.

ASL supply Marks & Spencer with their salmon product and are the company’s main and biggest UK customer.  They also supply numerous outlets in Europe and to a lesser extent export to USA, Canada, Australia and the Far East.

ASL are supplied by a Scottish Salmon Farm company and Henry played a video which explained a bit more about the salmon farming industry and how they are committed to the health and welfare of our Scottish salmon.  He also played a video explaining the filleting process.

ASL are one of the biggest employers in Moray and by far the biggest in Buckie. They are also committed to supporting the community and have involvement with Developing the Young Workforce.

Overall Henry gave an interesting insight in to the seafood industry and how ASL has expanded its export market over the years.
