Tribute to Mike Hind-Woodward
Mike was one of the most enthusiastic fund raisers in the club, despite the fact that he had been given a diagnosis of terminal cancer. Although he was a member of Melton Belvoir for a relatively short time, he made an outstanding contribution both from his own personal fund- raising efforts and also in organising social events.
He was also a keen environmentalist and grower of baby oak trees. He was unsure how many trees he had but thought it must be over 100 and donated many to local environmental organisations as well as to raise money for charities.
Buit his biggest contribution to the club’s charity funds was in his personal efforts to overcome his illness and bravely ‘take to the skies’.
These included a ‘Wing Walk’ and a’ Sky Dive’ both of which raised several £000’s for the club’s charity funds that enabled us to support many local and International projects.
Sadly, Mike passed away on April 21st, 2023, but he will be remembered as not only a genuinely nice person but also one who embodied the true meaning of a Rotarian in our motto of ‘Service Above Self’.
