Rotarian Alan Ribchester threw aside his Mayoral Bodyguard's outfit and adopted a more dapper image for his talk about the misadventures of a Chartered Acountant. Alan explained that his profession meant he would be involved in many areas, Liquidations, Bankruptcies, Insolvencies, Lion Taming [No, that was Monty Python}, where he experienced some laughs, some threats and some embarrasments !

One of the many 'dodges' he came accross was the cash in the back pocket approach, one adopted by meny people in may walks of life - some medical practitioners would take their fee for a certificate of cremation in the form of "ash cash" and .

Relations with The Revenue gave Alan many problems and a few laughs, one of which was when the Lady owner of a Chinese restaurant was queried by a tax official about the amount of rice she was claiming to use - at the lunchtime meeting, Alan revealed she brought in a pan of rice and put it on to cook in front of the unfortunate man to demonstrate that the rice lost a lot of substance through evaporation. She insisted the man stayed there until the rice was properly cooked, but graciously allowed Alan to go and fetch some sandwiches and crisps to feed the by then hungry gent !

Alan kept us all enthralled and entertained with his misadventures, which apparently could be just as dangerous a slion taming!
