It was an evening to test brain power as well as local knowledge at Swanage School this week.
On behalf of the Swanage School Robotics Team, Swanage and Purbeck Rotary organised a fun quiz to raise funds to help them procure much needed parts and equipmrent for their endeavours.
More than 40 people assembled at the school to take part in the event. Fully refreshed with drinks, snacks and a tray bake sale arranged by the PTA, participants were firstly treated to a presentation by the Robotics team, explaining how they were formed and what they have been able to do to date.
Then the competitive element kicked in and four rounds of questions, ranging from school specific questions, sports, general and local knowledge, were ably imparted by Rotarian Susan Treadwell.
On completion of the quiz, papers were swapped and marked and winners announced. But this wasn't about winning or losing, it was most definitely the taking part that was most imporrtant, and the funds that will be able to be donated to the robotics team as a result.
At the end of the evening, the Chairman of the Governors gave thanks for the support from all present.
Grateful thanks goes to The Swanage School for providing the facilities, the teaching staff and Governors for their help and support, the Robotics team for their excellent presentation and to Rotarian Susan for almost single-handedly organising the whole event.
