On Tuesday evening we met in Amhurst Road for a guided walk around some of the monuments in Bexhill. The late evening sunshine and warm weather made it a perfect time for walking.
Past President Perry Puddefoot had organised a 2.5 mile walk taking in a variety of locations and talking about the history of the town, from its origins in 772 through its incorporation as the last town added to the county of Sussex in 1902 and its development as a seaside town in the 20th century.
Taking sights including Pilbeam corner, Bexhill West station, three war memorials, site of our beach launched fishing fleet(closed in 1960). With many stops we still maintaned a steady progress through the town.
Finishing with a Fish & Chip supper at the Amhurst Sports & Social club it was a very successful and well attended evening. President Hugh Allen thanked Perry and Robin for organising the event and commented that this type of "Out & About" event gave the club the opportunity to share fellowship in differnt ways.
