This year's Community Tea Party was once again a hugely successful event. With over 50 guests from around the town coming to St Augstine's Church Hall for an afternoon of entertainment and refreshment.
Starting with a sherry or orange juice the guests were settled into the hall and welcomed by Bexhill Rotary Club's President Elect David Dixson, and President Hugh Allen.
St Richard's College's year 11 students arrived at the beginning of the afternoon and put together a very impromptue sing along with songs from films and some Christmas numbers to get us into the mood. Then it was over to our resident Rotary guitar duo, Brian & Phil, to continue the music with a blend of American and UK hits from the 60's and 70's.
Once the food was being served the star attraction Ricky Lee livened the party up with a wide selection of popular ballards and dance music. This really got the party going, many guests and carers joining in dancing together with the St Richard's students.
The whole mixture of young and older people joining together for a social and community event was a real tonic for these days when the news media seems to have nothing but troubled times to report.
Huge thanks to everybody for making this event such a success, firstly the Community & Youth Team for putting it all together, the drivers who made it possible for people to come and join in, to Alison Tollett for organising the catering and to everyone who provided sandwiches and cakes.
Thanks also to Ricky Lee for his very effective range of music and his interaction with the whole audience, and not forgetting Brian & Phil for their very musical set.
Lastly we cannot forget the huge contribution made by the St Richard's students, who were an absolute massive team of suppoters throughout the afternoon. You could not ask for a better behaved and enthusiastic group of teenagers, a huge complement to their school's ethos and to themselves.
