Remembrance Parade 10 November 2024

Lest We Forget

The Rotary Clubs of Bridport and Brit Valley plus the Inner Wheel of Bridport joined together to pay their respects and remember those who had sacrificed their lives in defence of their country.

With representatives and veterans of HM Armed Forces and other local groups and organisations we marched from East Street to the War Memorial outside St Mary's Church along streets lined with crowds of people.

The two minutes silence at 11.00 am, was followed by the wreath ceremony and an address by the Mayor of Bridport, Councillor Anne Rickard. The wreaths of the two Rotary Clubs were placed by Mike Green and Phil Payne and that for the Inner Wheel by Jenny Conway and Irene Smith.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
