Vocational Study Exchange

An exchange program where young people embarking on their careers vist another country to experience the world of work and their culture

Vocational Study Exchange is one of the flagship projects in our District and is unique in the Rotary World.

This project allows young people who are just starting out in their career or anyone who has just changed career to experience the world of work in their chosen vocation and the culture and customs of another country.

We undertake one exchange per year with a team from our District visiting other District in another country and a reciprocal exchange from that District to ours.

Teams are usually 3 or 4 with an experienced Rotarian acting as team leader. The visit is usually 2 weeks and participants are hosted by Rotarians in their homes. All expenses including travel and VSE branded clothing are included.

All participants must work or live within the boundaries of District 1210

We look for short haul visits although we have had one exchange with a District in India.

To date we have had exchanges with Districts in: Norway, Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Finland (2) and India.

Here is some comments from participants:

VSE has given me the opportunity to explore Norwegian culture, look at my role from a new angle but most importantly I have made many new friends

— Hywel Benbow Team Member

The VSE exchange was an experience I will truly cherish and remember for years to come, and I'm sure my team members share the same sentiments.

— Ritika Kandhari Team Member
