A walk and talk around the vineyard
We heard about the history of the vineyard from its medieval origins to modern times, the varieties of vine and their care, the challenges of growing vines in our climate and the modern English wine industry, as well as the community vineyard project and the special role played by its volunteers.
The tour was rounded off with a tasting of one of the wines which was thoroughly enjoyed by the Rotarians and their guests.
And if you want to know if this year will be a bumper crop you'll have to ask someone who was there - if they can remember after clearly enjoying the fruits of their hard work.
