Note from Secretary Ian re New Venue

The first two meetings at our new venue seem to have gone well and, as far as I am aware, members have been happy with the food. I know of one meal that was below standard – the hotel has been made aware of this. If there are others, please let me know.

I had a short meeting with Rebecca after Club yesterday to get her perspective on how things were going from her point of view. We have had two instances of apparent lack of apologies – the first, down to us and the second, an error on Rebecca’s part. Both have been sorted at no charge to Club. As a result of this meeting, can I make the following observations.

Apologies : As everyone is aware, members are responsible for giving their apologies for ALL weekly meetings that they are unable to attend, prior to those meetings to our contact Rebecca Davies (rebecca.harper@wynnstayhotel.com) copying in Ian. There have been a number of members who have given apologies for meetings a few months ahead – this will make Rebecca’s job more difficult and it will be more likely that the information may be lost. For this reason, could members please give their apologies in the week preceding their absence (or sequence of consecutive absences). With regard to evening meetings where a board will have been circulated and menu choices made, not to personally give your apologies to the hotel would leave you responsible for any errors made by the evening organiser. I leave that decision up to the individual.

Guests : Would members bringing guests please inform Rebecca in the week preceding the visit and notify her of any dietary requirements. If the guest is your speaker for the meeting, please make this clear as the hotel will cover the cost of the speaker’s meal.

I have attached a copy of the six week cycle menu for our weekly lunchtime meetings. If you like a surprise each Monday, delete it, but if the suspense is too great, open it to see what delights are in store for you over the coming weeks!
