Sun 30th June 2013 President's Luncheon

To mark the end of his very successful year in office John Watson had a celebratory lunch at Fairlawns in Aldridge. Guest speaker was Patricia Roberts from Midlands Air Ambulance, John's main charity for his year. A good time was had by all!

Tue 25th June 2013 Presidential Handover evening

Outgoing President John Watson hands over the reigns to his successor Tony Ridge. Tony's main charity for the year will be Good Hope League of Friends, Bladder Scanner Appeal.

Sat 22nd June 2013 - Sun 23rd June 2013 Collection at Asda, Minworth

Half of what is collected over the weekend will be donated to Asda's nominated charity, Tickled Pink. Entering its 16th year, Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised over £29 million for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.

Tue 21st May 2013 Fellowship vist to Meriden Rotary Club

We will not be meeting in our usual venue this evening. Instead we'll be visiting Meriden Rotary Club for their President's Night. The guest speaker will be Malcolm Stent, a British actor, musical performer and playwright.

In a very exciting and closely contested final, Arthur Terry pupils beat those from Plantsbrook 1-0 in the recent football competition for years 7 and 8 pupils at Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club on their 3G pitch .

The National Forest is one of the country's boldest environmental projects, transforming 200 square miles in the centre of England. Donisthorpe Woodland Park was created in 1996 by Leicestershire County Council on the former site of Donisthorpe Colliery.

No longer being used here, so 7 bikes have now been sent to Africa as part of the Jole Rider initiative. Bikes 4 Africa delivers bikes to schools making the journey to education possible for thousands of children.

This year's Alternative Conference was held in the beautiful Cotswolds, using Broad Marston Manor in Mickleton as a base. Everyone had a great time and the weather stayed fine. The house was full of atmosphere and all enjoyed the fellowship.

Allan and Ann will be returning to the Club to provide an update on their work in Kenya.

Tue 12th February 2013 Phillippa Jones, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research

The charity is dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Research is focused on finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running groundbreaking clinical trials for all blood cancer patients.

Tue 5th February 2013 Youth Speaks

A nationwide Rotary competition for students between the ages of 11 and 18, to help them develop confidence in their own ability, speaking in front of an audience. The local round was won by pupils from Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls.

Father Ho will be speaking about how he came to the UK with Vietnamese Boat People before becoming a Priest at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Sutton Coldfield.

A cold and frosty start for the walk around New Hall Country Park in Sutton Coldfield, starting and finishing at Nick and Penny's home. Many thanks to them both for not only organising the walk but for feeding everyone afterwards. Much appreciated.

After a busy morning when they had been bag packing at Asda, Minworth, Santa paid a surprise visit to thank the pupils of Minworth School for their hard work. They had been raising funds for Asda's TEXT SANTA campaign.

Mon 3rd December 2012 Rotary Schools Football Competition

The competition was held at Sutton Coldfield Town Football Club on their 3G pitch under floodlights, attracting 18 teams from 12 schools, 144 pupils supported by teachers, parents and friends. The competition was won by pupils from Coppice Primary School.

Thu 29th November 2012 Inner Wheel Club of Wylde Green Quiz Night

A fund raising evening for Troop Aid - the charity that supports our injured troops by providing the basic essentials.

Tue 27th November 2012 Scatter Night.

The Club will not be meeting on this evening. Instead the members will 'scatter' to other Rotary Clubs of their choice and make a fellowship visit.

The green disc scheme at Asda, Minworth for August and September was won by Parkinson's UK who received £200 from the store. The Club also donated £100. Beryl Linden from Parkinson's UK is pictured receiving the cheque from Rotary's Eric Dance.

Hope and Homes for Children is an international charity working to ensure that all children have the chance to grow up in the love of a family. We will be welcoming fellowship visits from the Rotary Clubs of Sutton Coldfield and Sutton Coldfield Vesey.

Mon 8th October 2012 Rotary District Special Needs Football Festival

Held at Aston Villa Academy and now in its 15th year. A total of 18 schools entered 31 teams from an area that is centred on Birmingham and the West Midlands, and includes parts of Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

The weather held fine for another most enjoyable Rotary walk organised by Nick and Penny. Today's walk was around the Barton Under Needwood area.

Fri 28th September 2012 Olympic Sporting Dinner in aid of Fisher House.

Organised by QEHB Charity, the event raised over £10,000. Pete Reed, Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Men's Coxless Fours and Joanna Rowsell,Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Women's Cycling Team Pursuit were guests of honour. A most successful and enjoyable evening.

Fri 13th July 2012 Dictionaries for Life 2012

For the fifth year running the Club has supported the national literacy programme with their Dictionary For Life project by gifting 222 dictionaries to year 6 pupils in four local schools. Pupils at Yenton Primary School are pictured.

To achieve the Award Year 6 pupils at Penns Primary School took part in a range of developmental activities in Community Service, Social Experience, Skills and Physical Recreation.

Home-Start supports almost 77,000 vulnerable children across the UK. Last year, nearly 17,000 volunteers gave a million hours of support to their families coping with post-natal illness, isolation, bereavement, disability, domestic violence and much more.
