Visit from our Twin Club Vlaardingen 80
Our twin club Vlaardingen 80 based in the town of Vlaardingen just outside Rotterdam in the Netherlands visited us on one of the regular (approximately every 3 year) visits. We have been twinned with them for 30 years.
Walking Weekend at Church Stretton
Blaize members attended their annual Walking Weekend at Longmynd (one of the H F Holidays properties) which is set in a wonderful elevated location above the town of Church Stretton.

Tree planting in Addingham
Following on from the planting earlier in the year to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee club members again planted trees on behalf of the Forest of Bradford.
Diamond Jubilee Tree Planting
Environment Officer Alan Morrell suggested that we should plant some trees in conjunction with the Forest of Bradford initiative. President John Watson said this would be a good memento for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Charity Golf Competition at Ilkley Golf Club
The Rotary Club of Bradford Blaize once again held their annual Charity Golf Tournament at Ilkley Golf Club. This was the 22nd tournament and added £6,040 to the tally of £125,200 raised in previous years for charity for a running total of £131,240.
Update on tree planting
Environmental chairman Alan Morrell has been in contact with Ian Butterfield of the Forest of Bradford about planting further trees this autumn. He has also received photographs from him. Ian's response is shown below.
Wensleydale Walk
The annual walk around Wensleydale took place on Sunday the 29th of July.

Sponsored Walk in Aid of Marie Curie Hospice and Other Charities
R. Allan organised a long distance sponsored walk around the Cleveland Way. The main thrust of the walk was to raise money for Marie Curie Bradford Hospice but they raised more money than expected so some will go to other causes.

On 28.3.12 and 29.3.12 Blaize members aided by Ambassadorial Scholars Whitney Hough and Mizuki Takashi collected for the local Marie Curie Hospice at Tesco on Canal Road in Bradford.

Blaize Walking Weekend

The Technology Tournament for senior schools in the Bradford / Keighley Area was held at Victoria Hall Keighley. This tournament was organised by all 10 Rotary Clubs in the Bradford Area and is in it's 5th year.
