Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Alcester Alauna
Who are we and what is Alauna?
Quite simply we are the new face of Rotary in Alcester who have chosen the name Alauna which stems from Alcester's Roman roots whilst the Rotary Club launches Rotary firmly in to the 21st Century whilst retaining Rotary's original ideas of Friendship and Business Networking. Besides this informative website we also have a 'RotaNet' business networking website on www.RotaNet.org where you will find links to many of our members business activities

Alcester is an ancient Roman town in a beautiful part of south-west Warwickshire and is the home of Rotary In Britain and Ireland (RIBI) besides the Rotary Club of Alcester Alauna. Alcester dates back at least to Roman times and there are many archaeological sites of interest in the town and surrounding area. The high street is reminiscent of a by gone era and preserved Tudor cottages and other historical buildings are dotted throughout Find out more about the history of Alcester. Today Alcester is a thriving rural town with lots to offer its residents and the many visitors we have throughout the year. Find out More about Alcester
What have we achieved so far - What we intend to do in the future
Scroll down this page, use the menu on the left or read our regular page in the Alcester Connection Magazine to find out more about what we do
We are part of Rotary International, the world's largest service organisation of over 1.2 million. They and we joined Rotary to make a difference Click on this line to learn more about Rotary
The main objective of Rotary is service - in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most crirical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illeteracy, and violence. They also support programmes for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, other professionals, vocational and career development.
In common with most Rotary Clubs we try to effect a balance between fund-raising to support our charitable donations, providing service to the community both in Alcester and elsewhere, creating business opportunities for our members through networking and having lots of fun.
Our Club and its activities create a splendid environment for social and business networking. This aspect of the Club is proving increasingly valuable to many of our members who appreciate being able to get to know members of other professions and businesses in a relaxed environment.
Although only a new Rotary Club we have already helped many Charities with a range of fund-raising activities and our President, Graham Hemming has set a goal for his year to raise £10,000 towards the Polio-Plus project (see seperate page on the menu).
Have a look at the Charities supported list to see what we have achieved in our short time as a club and scroll through the menu to see what we are providing in the community and further afield. The Club is presently arranging to fill Aquaboxes and supporting Shelterboxes ready for future emergencies, details of this Rotary programme can be seen on www.shelterbox.org
Locally, the Club is active in its support of young people via the Rotary Youth Leadership and Young Carers Awards which can be seen on the New Generation link and much more!
Then there's the fun. The Club has a packed social calendar with activities at home and abroad, attendance at major Rotary events elsewhere, participation in Rotary Friendship Exchanges to the Czech Republic, supporting our Sponsoring Rotary Club of Royal Leamington Spa by entering 3 teams for their Charity Golf Day to support Acorns Children's Hospice with many of our members at the dinner, in fact something for everyone!
Business Networking
Our Club is feeling its way into developing a regular business networking branch called RotaNet and on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays we have a networking forum with discussions and presentations from our members. These Networking discussions form part of our formal Rotary meetings.
There are two ways of finding out more: Contact any Club member from either this website or our business networking website on www.RotaNet.org.uk where you will find a ling to all our member who have website or just click on the Contact button at the top of this screen.
Visitors
Visitors are always very welcome; both members of other Rotary Clubs (of course) and anyone who wants to see what a Rotary Club does. All our meetings are fully open. We especially like visitors at our business meetings.
