Who are we?
The Rotary Club of Bourne End and Cookham. Born in 1975 and "enjoying our Rotary" ever since.
What is Rotary?
An organisation of men and women - with 1.2 million members in almost 30,000 clubs spanning more than 160 countries. Clubs like ours belong to this huge, yet highly effective organisation.
What are we?
A voluntary worldwide service organisation of people currently in or retired from business or the professions.
Where are we?
We live or work in our catchment area of Bourne End, Flackwell Heath, the Cookhams, and points around, including Maidenhead, Marlow and Wycombe.
When do we do it?
We meet weekly for a simple meal (alternate lunch and dinner) to hear a speaker, to discuss business or just to enjoy each other's company and catch up on news. Every member is in a committee, which have monthly meetings. Other events include dinners for guests and partners every quarter, and other excellent fund-raising and social events where partners and families can be fully involved.
What have we done?
Raised - and donated - just under £30,000 in this year ending June 31st 2009 to charitable causes in our community, across Britain and overseas.
Our Philosophy?
Have fun in good company with the opportunity to serve others with great personal satisfaction.
