The 2017 opening of the Castle Carr Fountains was held on SUNDAY 2nd JULY

On Sunday 2nd July, in the estate of Castle Carr, their famous gravity fed fountain once again rose magnificently into the sky. Organised by the Rotary Club of Halifax, with the kind permission of Yorkshire Water and the land owner, it is again hoped the fountain will reach a height of over 100 feet. As with last year’s event and fund raiser was watched by almost 1000 people on a bright, warm summer’s day.

This famous local landmark designed and built in the 1870’s comprises an ornamental water garden situated between two reservoirs. The garden consists of a main circular pool in the middle of which sits a single jet fountain. It attains a height that is only second in England, to that at Chatsworth House! But as Castle Carr is further above sea level that Chatsworth we can rightly claim that our is the 'Highest'

Local Film make Alan Hamer has produced a superb video of the day, set to music by Analog Heart and it can be viewed by following this link
