PITCH4POUNDS

The first Pitch4Pounds awards have been made and other bidders invited to make their 'pitches' in May when they will give a brief account of how any donation will benefit the local community.

Community groups, charities and organisations within the PR25 and PR26 postcode areas were urged to get in touch to apply for cash grants of up to £350 for their projects.  These awards are only possible due to Leyland Rotary’s annual fundraising efforts.

So far, Leyland Barracudas Amateur Swimming Club has been awarded £100 to erect a new banner at Leyland Leisure Centre and Heartbeat is using a £350 award to provide exercise sessions at Leyland Leisure Centre for those suffering from heart conditions.

President Jim and Rotaduck went along to Heartbeat's head office at Deepdale to see the work they do and to meet their mascot.

Whilst the current round of Pitch4Pounds applications has closed, it is anticipated that this initiative will re-open later in the year.  So keep coming back to check!

This initiative can only continue if our fundraising events like our virtual duck race are successful.
