Who Do We Support Locally?

These are some of the local projects we are involved in.

Leyland Rotary Virtual Duck Race 2021

Rotary in Leyland started in 1953 and has helped many local charities and good causes by raising money and in other ways:

Locally:

Annual Charity Duck Race and Santa 'shake-a-can' collections - providing fun and entertainment whilst raising funds for selected local charities.  Go to our Links page for further information.

Environmental Projects - we are collaborating with two other local Rotary Clubs to create a well-being/memorial garden at a local high school.

Helping Hand Fund - by being the major sponsor of Leyland Trucks' annual fundraising campaign by turning miles into money for local charities.  For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Leyland Barracudas Swimming Club - by sponsoring a poolside volunteer to gain accredited qualifications.  For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Leyland Festival - providing support to the Festival Committee in enabling this popular annual event to take place.  For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Wrap-Up Lancashire - by collecting, sorting and distributing unwanted warm clothing to people in crisis. For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Leyland Foodbank - in collaboration with Leyland "Churches Together' and local supermarkets, providing physical and financial support to the foodbank. 

Young People - through various Rotary programmes and competitions such as 'Youth Speaks' which is designed to improve the public speaking abilities of pupiles from our local schools and colleges, and one day 'Technology Tournament' events for multiple teams of four students to collectively design, build and test their solution to a previously unseen technology task.  For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Health Mela - supporting the local Health Mela inspired by one of our members who has been instrumental in promoting this initiative around the NW of England.

Galloway's Society for the Blind - sponsoring their Christmas Party and assisting on shopping days at a local supermarket.  For further information, click on 'More' - 'Links and News'

Pitch4Pounds

The first Pitch4Pounds awards have been made and other bidders invited to make their 'pitches' in May when they will give a brief account of what the funds are needed for and how they will benefit the local community.

Crocuses blooming nicely.

Thanks to AVANT GARDEN CENTRE, LEYLAND for its donation of purple crocus bulbs which are blooming nicely. These have been planted in association with Leyland in Bloom in the Peace Garden at South Ribble Civic Centre.
