The Borders Area Final of Rotary's Young Chef competition took place at Peebles High School on Thursday 9th February. Jessica Scott and Emma Rae represented Hawick against competitors from Peebles. The Head Chef from Cringletie Hotel, Ian Gourlay, was there to give guidance and to help judge the contest. The two-course meals made by the four competitors were excellent and the results was very close, however Lacey from Peebles came first with Jessica from Hawick only one point behind in second place. It is intended that Lacey and Jessica will now go forward to the Scottish Final at Perth College on 11th March. Jessica and Emma were supported at Peebles by Hawick High's Kirsty Ritchie and by Hawick Rotary's Mairhi Trickett, accompanied by well-known local cook Kathy Anderson.
