Fri Feb 25th 2011
Holly Butterworth, the Misbourne Matins' candidate for the Rotary Young Leaders Award.

Holly Butterworth was MM's RYLA candidate for 2010. She lives in Gerrards Cross with her family and went to Dr Challoner's Girls School. Holly celebrated her 18th birthday in July so was officially able to take part in the Youth Leadership scheme, the age requirement being 18 - 25. As expected, she was the youngest candidate this year but lack of years didn't deter her from fully enjoying her week in North Wales, gaining new skills and developing her ability to become a leader.

This year Holly is taking a gap year and is presently studying a one year Art Foundation course at Bucks. University. Next year she takes up a place at Cardiff University to study Ecology. Holly was delighted to be able to be MM's RYLA candidate. Whilst she was on the course she made a new group of friends with whom she keeps in fairly regular contact. Also, whilst preparing for the course, she learnt through family conversations that her maternal grandfather was a past member of Rotary in Beaconsfield. As a way of saying 'Thank You' to MM for the opportunity to be able to go on the leadership course, Holly offered to help serve the canapes at the Film Night. Clearly Rotary has a new, young convert!
