Home | Foundation | 1 July 2011 - Paul Harris Fellowship awarded to Mr Tony Weedon

Fri Jul 1st 2011

Mr. Tony Weedon, twice Mayor of Amersham was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Amersham during the welcome reception for the visit of our twin club the Rotary Club of Bensheim-Heppenheim.

The Paul Harris Fellowship is named after Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.

Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation.

Tony Weedon has been a leading light in the Amersham-Bensheim Association for over 30 years and held the position of Chairman for over 10 years.  He has invested a considerable amount of time, effort and financial assistance to this association, which is greatly indebted to him.  Tony is held in very high regard by the Town Councillors and many residents of Bensheim.

Tony has contributed to the community spirit through his devotion to the town of Amersham over many years, and if ever someone deserved to be called 'Mr Amersham", it is Tony Weedon.
