The Community Service Committee is committed to providing a service to our local community by maintaining a programme of events and fund raising both of an established nature and where appropriate new initiatives.
September (annual event) - Charity Walk in aid of St Francis Hospice
October (annual event) - Big Band Night at the New Windmill Hall, Upminster
November (annual event) - Celebrating Christmas with the Senior Members of Hornchurch and Upminster
December (annual event) - Christmas Collection at Station Road and streets in Upminster
April (annual event) - Know your Blood Pressure Day at Trinity United Reformed Church, Upminster
June (annual event) - Kids Out

Present: Brian Taffs(Chair), Dennis Bragg, Christine Smith, Norman Ellenby, , Ray Needham & Ray Hamilton
Apologies: Tony Barber, Ken King, Mike Horrigan, Alan Booty, Ray Leach, Gerry Harrington, David Bull, Lew Bekkers & Eddie Percival.
Minutes of the last meeting held on the 30 January 2013 agreed.
Race Night – 20 April 2013
Norman stated that he expects about 100 attending and that there were about 10 Horses left to sell. Advertisements had been sold.
Know Your Blood Pressure Day – 20 April 2013
Brian stated that all the arrangements had been made, including parking arrangements at Rooms Store (Lew will let us know the exit number on the day). Good support had been received from Club Doctors.
Jazz Night
Nothing to report and we are still awaiting confirmation of the date and band.
Sponsored Walk – 1 September 2013
An approach has been made to the Forest Centre Pike Lane as a possible start point but we are still awaiting confirmation and consideration of a route. The main Charity will be St Francis Hospice again with some flexibility for small donations to other local Charities

Brian confirmed that confirmation is still awaited that the Club bowls and BBQ will be held on Sunday 11 August 2013
Dennis proposed that the sum of £100 be made available to George L, to buy food for the Food Bank
