INTERNATIONAL SERVICE COMMITTEE

The mission of the International Service Committee is to help relieve the plight of the disadvantaged of the world and to promote the Rotary goal of world peace and understanding

This year we will continue to support causes which we believe will provide the best benefit but we will respond to humanitarian issues and disasters as they arise. Our key projects are:

  • ·         Mary’s Meals
  • ·         Sri Lanka Farmers Water Tank and Reservoir
  • ·         Jaipur Limb Centre
  • ·         Tools with a Mission

As the NHS are now refurbishing their own wheelchairs our long favoured “Freewheeling Scheme” has had to close but we are content we contributed to the supply of 12000 chairs through the life of the scheme.

We are strengthening our international relationships and understanding by expanding our contacts with the Hermeskeil Rotary Club in Germany. Following our successful interclub meetings and functions last year in Canterbury we plan a return visit to Cologne this year.

The new committee will additionally heed and, within the Club’s means, support other projects as they may arise.

The Committee’s main fund raising activity will be the traditional annual quiz.
